silk soldier

Jacket- H&M
Playsuit- Kate Moss for Topshop
Belt- Primark
Necklace- ASOS
Shoe Boots-Verani

I love love love silk, and ideally I would have wanted to pair this playsuit with some tough leather. However, I didn't really bring any jackets on holiday to Dubai, so paired the playsuit with my cute military style jacket instead.
I picked up the Primark belt for 50p for some fancy dress costume a while ago- when I saw it lurking behind my jewellery box I knew it would work perfectly with this outfit. Black & Gold work beautifully together, just ask Sam Sparro.
You must excuse my wearing of these shoes in many photos, they are the only pair I brought with me on hols and the heel is even broken on one of them-that's what you get for £20, i should have brought my Kurt Geiger's instead!

Women Who Stare At Goats

A photo shoot styled by my sister for her degree

Turban- Fabric shop in Satwa, Dubai
Top- Bandage
Trousers- Tailor Made from fabric
Shoes- Massimo Dutti

Top- As before
Skirt & Shrug- Topshop
Necklace- Handmade by Jessica Lacey
Anklet- Accessorize

Top & Hat- Handmade by Jessica Lacey for shoot
Skirt- Topshop
Shoes- Varani in Manchester

So my sister Jessica needed a model for her shoot she had to style...luckily she has a sister and not a brother! The trend was fur and she had to style 3 different looks with this running theme. She styled the shoot so it was reminiscent of the styling in "Dazed & Confused" magazine, so the outfits are quite high fashion and unwearable but look amazing. I love, love, loved the furry trousers and it wasn't as hot in them as I thought, but I think I'd give them a miss for every day wear. The 2nd outfit was really cute and I would definitely wear the bandage as a top like that again!
The shoot went so quickly and I was concentrating so hard on making myself look taller and body seem longer, that I often forgot about my face. Modelling is definitely hard work!
How awesome does the desert backdrop look?!

new bracelets

1. Light Blue Louis Vuitton Bracelet
2. LV Bracelet again
3. LV Single Width Transparent Bracelet
4. LV Double Width Navy Bracelet
5. Forever 21 Bracelet
6. Closeup of F21 Chain Print
7. Bebe Bracelet

I didn't go out intentionally looking for new bracelets but found these 2 bad boys on a whim whilst shopping for a vacuum cleaner. I'd seen the Bebe bracelet in Grazia magazine and really liked it, so when I saw a similar one in Forever 21 I snapped it up immediately, for about a fifth of the price! It's funny, I only just realised the bracelets are very similar in terms of they both have gold placed inside them! I was quite mesemerised by the gold LV logo and flowers inside of the Louis Vuitton bracelet, and after a 10 minute think I decided I'd go for it and get that bracelet too. :)

I Love My Bones

Considering I had transfer paper I decided to give designing my own t-shirt a go, just to see how it would turn out. As a first design I decided on something that was familiar and that I knew would be relatively successful; "I heart my bones" in the style of the infamous "I heart NY" and other cities t-shirts. I decided on I heart "my bones" because I have a strange preoccupation with anatomical drawings and I have always wanted a t-shirt that has a ribcage on it, as if I was constantly walking around in an X-Ray machine. Weird I know. But instead of trying a full scale rib cage as I have seen it before, I incorporated the bones into a design that everybody recognises but is not copyrighted! The 1st photo of me is taken on PhotoBooth as no one was around and I don't have a tripod, so the words are reflected, however the 2nd photo is what the front of the t-shirt actually looks like. There are a few blips like the background of the design is quite visible and I accidentally messed up the M on "my bones", but I think these little quirks give the shirt character and are quite reflective of my personality; slightly careless but still creative and motivated.

Wild Child

Scarf- Louis Vuitton, Vest & Black and Gold Chain Link Bracelet- Forever 21, Glasses- H & M, Heel Boots- Verani in Manchester, Jesus Bracelet- Gift from a Filipino Wedding, Henna Tattoo- from a Desert Safari

I gots me a new scarf! I Picked up this red, leopard print, Louis Vuitton scarf the other day and I'm kind of in love with it. I've seen the likes of Kate Moss, one of the Olsen Twins (possibly Ashley?) and Sienna Miller all brandishing the beaut. I'm convinced it will go well with any outfit, although that is yet to be proven. Adaptable to any weather or occasion, my scarf is definitely my favourite accessory (at least for the next few weeks or so...)

le cirque

"Violin D'Ingres"- Man Ray

How AMAZING is this shoot?! It's "Le Cirque" for Marie Claire Italia, April 2010. I really love over the top fashion shoots that incorporate fantasy and fairytale. High fashion is so exaggerated that there is a wide berth for over styling. Not only is the circus like feel of the shoot brilliant, the photographs are shot in a way that almost makes them seem like old circus posters- the soft lens creates a blurred edge and evokes a feeling of nostalgia.
I especially like the subtle reference to Man Ray's "Violin D'Ingres" in the last image of the shoot. The ringleader is playing the woman like a violin- an idea initially championed by Man Ray's depiction of a woman's back as a violin.
The model, Sophie Vlaming, keeps this spread up to date with geometric leggings and boyfriend blazers.

XOXO

I was driving around in Satwa, a part of Dubai where there are lots of small, cheap shops, and whilst stuck in traffic saw the above Barber Shop "Haji Sharif". I'm pretty sure they illegally used an image of Chace Crawford from "Gossip Girl" for advertising purposes. I'm also sure there was some other barber shops using images of Alexander Skarsgard who plays vampire Eric in "True Blood", I'll try get some photos of that too.

My garden- the view at Breakfast

The start of my collection of photos from Easter Break. I'm staying at my house in Dubai for a month- we have already had some visitors so I've had the opportunity to do some touristy things that I wouldn't regularly do. Most of these photos were taken on one day when I went to brunch and then the Creek with my family; It's fun to experience the traditional places that are still left in Dubai and reminds me how lucky I am to have grown up here. More photos to come!
